LinuxPops Attach Command

It is possible to fork a binary program or shell-script from the command prompt that then would perform some external functions and return results to Linuxpops.

One example would be a program or scripts that traverses the file-system looking for datafiles and in return, sends Linuxpops the filename command to set the internal filename to the first one found. Then subsequent calls would pick up where it left off and return the next datafile.

Any script or binary that needed to talk to Linuxpops would be required to communicate back to Linuxpops via sockets to LINUXPOPS_HELPER, who's job it is to monitor inbound communications.

Script Example

Here is and example c-shell script that simply switches through a few environments and does and accum in each. Pretty simple.

#!/bin/csh -f
#
if ( "$1" == "" ) then
echo "Usage: $0 mailboxdefs-file"
exit
endif
#
setenv MAILBOXDEFS $1
alias sock /home/corona/cactus/lib/sock
set mb=LINUXPOPS_HELPER
#
sleep 1
#
foreach f ( 3 4 7 11 12 14 15 )
echo "switch $f" | sock $mb
sleep 1
echo "accum" | sock $mb
sleep 5
end
#
exit
