CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: September 20, 2002 Week: 86 Tom Folkers: Tom Sargent: 1. Tried several things to diagnose the problem causing the servo program to sometimes ignore the DSP, mostly centered on system performance. It turned out the problem was a bug in the inter-process communication that was sending a text message to tscom that was supposed go to the terminal screen. tscom and servo then got stuck in a flurry of error messages back and forth between the 2 programs. When that was fixed, the problem went away. 2. Fixed a few other bugs in the servo program. The ON_SOURCE status bit was erratic. There was a typo in validate() that was responsible for some of the problem. 3. Added optical refraction to the pointing model to be used when we do optical pointing. 4. Small telescope movements (10 or 20 arcseconds) are being done sloppily by servo some of the time. I think I know why, but haven't fixed it yet. Pete Hubbard: 1. Worked on cables for focus drive. 2. SMT to install optical pointing camera. 3. Changed elevation encoder "0" to use different A/D channel in the Traquiad Adc chassis. This may help with an occasional noise problem. 4. Sam buss testing chal 28 and 29 in control room. Changed boxes with spare and still oscillation. Then swapped cables and same oscillation occurred. Continue testing to find the problem. David Forbes:
