CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: September 06, 2002 Week: 84 Tom Folkers: Tom Sargent: 1. I added a revision number to the DSP code. This is transmitted in the init-report that is sent from the DSP to the Linux machine when the Linux machine first starts up. 2. I finished coding the archive() function in servo.c. This will be used by the OTF observing modes. It hasn't been tested yet. It is ready to go, though. 3. Couldn't get the old DSP simulator program to work at the SMT either. So, I re-coded the simulation logic into the non- simulator DSP code. It is enabled by re-compiling with a certain macro undefined. Seems to work now. This is better than having 2 different DSP programs. 4. I fixed a couple of bugs introduced via mods from last week. 5. Made the hide-from-sun logic a little smarter. This code needs more testing. 6. Made mods to allow driving the telescope in elevation below the 2 deg. pre-limit where it normally stops. We wanted to be able to put it at 0 deg. elev. This required a command to change the limit and a command to change the max velocity. In the limit, the Krupp rack limits vel. to 10% of max. The servo logic has to use the same limit or it won't be able to drive the telescope. At Bill's request, I also ran the elevation axis into the hard limit (very slowly!) to see exactly where the limit is. The encoders read -1:21:12.2 when it was at the hard limit. 7. I finally fixed the position "re-strobing" problem. Often when a planetary object is selected, the system would start to go to it and then a small fraction of a second later, tracker, tells it to go there again (and usually again a 3rd time). This makes it come to a stop and then restart the slew. It wastes about 10 sec. I don't know why tracker (or tscom) is re-strobing the new object, but I was able to finally fix it by having the program watch the name of the object being selected. If it it told to go to the same object, it ignores the command. ??Logic resets after the slew finishes. Pete Hubbard: 1. Found the proper connectors for the secondary control chassis. 2. Ordered connectors and cable for secondary control chassis. 3. At SMT for testing and to verifying connector type used on the secondary control chassis. 4. Helped with the 230 Ghz receiver bias problem. When trying to make an I/V curve the x axis has 4.5V P-P triangle wave at 24Khz. 5. Hunting for the problem with the control room Sam Bus channels 28 and 29. Oscillation on those channels only. David Forbes:
