CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: May 3, 2002 Week: 66 Tom Folkers: Tom Sargent: 1. Just before we left the SMT I recorded time and tracking data in synchronization with Bill recording the same on the SMT using the old system. We were attempting to check the accuracy of the new system's tracking and time computations. I discovered that the I recorded the wrong LST - it was updated only on a 10 sec. basis. To attempt to get around this, I added an ioctl to the IRIG driver to allow specifying an offset to be added to the time. This was to in effect turn the time back a few days and "re-observe" the measurements. These showed that the UT vs LST relationship agrees with the old system to within the printed accuracy (36ms). However, the position data did not reproduce the AZ and EL deviations that we saw at the telescope. So some part of the position computation is not fooled by simply setting the system time back. 2. Worked on finishing the sun-hiding logic. It quickly became clear that I needed some diagnostic commands that allow me to position the telescope a minute or so (of time) in front of the solar avoidance zone and then stop it. The sun will then overrun the telescope. It is otherwise difficult to create a situation that triggers the hide-from-sun software. Pete Hubbard: 1. Tested a AM26LS32 rcvr chip that was driven by a DS8832 chip. This driver is in the focus digital hardware chassis. Over a short distance the differential signals are compatible with each other. 2. Found source of differential line I/O boards for use in driving focus chassis. 3. Comparing transmission line driver/receiver chips that meet RS-422 and RS-485 requirements. David Forbes:
