CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: March 22, 2002 Week: 60 Tom Folkers: 1. More work on DBE. 2. Completed work on SAMBUS driver and application program. 3. Mostly have the 'respond' program done. This program generates structured messages from the DBE backend to the master control computer. Which are, in turn, copied into global memory. 4. Installed SCCS into all development computers for all software participants to use. Tom Sargent: 1. The sun avoidance algorithm is generating paths OK, but I had trouble working out the velocity as a function of time correctly. I considered switching to a completely different approach, but in a last try, I got a couple bugs fixed and found a way to compute a smooth V(t) curve that works. The simulation behaves like a perfect telescope, so I can't be sure how well it will work until I get to try it on the telescope. 2. Fixed a few more bugs/misconceptions in old code and, for the time being, configured the software to avoid the discontinuity in azimuth in the north, that is, it will not go to negative azimuths or beyond 360. To move from 1 degree azimuth to 359 it will go around the long way rather than cross the meridian north of the zenith. I'll add in the -90 to 0 and the 360 to 450 ranges after the next run. Pete Hubbard: 1. Started comparing TLC2654 and LTC1052 for drift over temperature and warm-up time with encoder ROD456. Taking a fourth set of data today. 2. DBE logic noise can be reduced with slower rise and fall times than the 74LS logic that is driving the counters now. I have borrowed a logic analyzer for testing. 3. Looking at ways to simulate the VCO signals that feed the counters. Lori Warner: 1. Housekeeping & VxWorks preparation. 2. Waiting for VxWorks workstation. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
