CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: March 01, 2002 Week: 57 Tom Folkers: 1. Performed the first tests of the new DBE chassis on site. Was able to connect directly to most of the VCO's. A small adapter box will need to be built to accept the 19 channel VCO's. 2. All 20 counters within the new DBE worked with the exception of counters 3 and 8. Number three produced wildly large numbers. I'm thinking it's picking up cross talk. Number 8 appears to pick up the occasional extra carry bit from the first half 16 bit counter to the seconded. Again, possible cross talk. Tom Sargent: 1. I made changes to the servo program so it can be used in a simulation mode, where responses of the Krupp rack are simulated. 2. Feb. 26 we went to the SMT for an engineering test run. I got the sun avoidance path patched into the servo slewing code. It seems to avoid the sun OK in our tests which included independent monitoring by Kronen as the telescope was moved. It still has some problems at the end of the path, when it is in the last couple of seconds. Azimuth usually has trouble overshooting. On a couple of cases, it started an un- commanded slew immediately after the first one was finished. I recorded lots of real-time data while the telescope was moving and I expect to be able to fix these problems shortly. 3. We collected a lot of noise data so that Pete Hubbard could see how his new amplifier modifications worked. In general the noise seems to be reduced. Pete Hubbard: 1. Pete was out sick all week and missed test session on Mt. Graham. Lori Warner: 1. This week I worked on creating a small client/server to test between Linux & VxWorks. It will convert from Network byte order to little endian byte order (Linux host). 2. I will be able to use a spare VxWorks box named vw1 next week, as I already have an account and start up script on it. (the box is upstairs) 3. I want to mimic the weird way the data is pointed to in tune, using void pointers (offsets) ; where I think the conversion needs to be done. (in tree.c where it is added to a binary tree in memory) Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
