CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: January 25, 2002 Week: 52 Tom Folkers: 1. No report. Tom Sargent: 1. Finished putting code into analog.c to monitor the motor currents. If any motor current drops below a threshold (currently 3% of Max) for more than 30 seconds it is reported to monitor as an error. This is really just intended to catch the case where a motor blows a circuit breaker. 2. Began working on the sun avoidance software. I worked out all the geometry. Significant changes in the slew algorithm will be required to make it approximate a great circle path. In the case where the sun is in the way, it follows a path which is a circle (intersection of a plane with a sphere) but not a great circle. It is desirable to have a 3-d perspective plotting program to visualize the avoidance paths. I may write or get one of those. Pete Hubbard: 1. Testing the AD8571 amplifier gave results that are 29dB lower noise then existing amplifier's that are used on the MPI 6000 boards. Switching to differential inputs from the encoders eliminated most of the 60HZ pickup. 2. Made ribbon cable to BNC bulk head for control interface, used in PC. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
