CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: January 04, 2002 Week: 49 Tom Folkers: 1. No Report. Tom Sargent: 1. The observing run was fairly successful. The new servo algorithm, using velocity averaging, controlled the velocities well, but the absolute position error at the end of a slew was still too large. That problem was solved by making the error feedback term cummulative. Seems to work pretty well now: slews terminate within 10 or 20 arcseconds of the target with little or no overshoot. There are several servo parameters that need to be experimented with yet, but it seems to work. 2. We determined the new pointing logic needs to be integrated into the existing program better. The recent change broke a few functions in the program. 3. We looked further at the analog noise problem in the SMT computer room. Noise levels are remarkably high. Pete Hubbard: 1. At SMT encoder testing with HP Dynamic signal analyzed to find noise sources that degrade encoder readings. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
