CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: April 19, 2002 Week: 64 Tom Folkers: Tom Sargent: 1. I got the halt-in-path code working. If the telescope is slewing along a sun avoidance path (which is typically a great circle), and it is directed to another object, it will decelerate to 0 while staying on the sun avoidance path and then start a new slew to the new object. The object can be changed multiple times while it is slowing down. 2. I adapted the MGIO system configuration scripts to use the new IPs and computer names that have been defined for the SMT. 3. I appear to have beam switching working now. It failed on our last trip to the SMT. 4. Made the sun avoidance logic compensate (approximately) for solar motion during a slew. 5. I discovered and fixed a couple of bugs in the sun avoidance path computation. There was one case that I hadn't thought of. I have worked out a grid of starting and ending positions designed to excite problem cases, which I am going to test the system with. 6. For those sun avoidance paths which are made by piecing together two different tracks, I improved the smoothing of the path at the point where the two join. Also fixed a bug in the 'breakPath()' function which computes these 2 piece paths. Pete Hubbard: 1. In the Vco-Mux chassis I changed the SN74LS157 chip to 74HCT157 with slight improvement. Also tried SN74ACT157 it has more ringing because of faster edges. Next I will try series termination resistor at the source, the Mux chassis. 2. Got the lab encoder electronics ready for SMT testing next week. 3. Computer boards CIO-CTR20HD counters have 10K pull-up resistors from the inputs to +5 Vcc. These don't match the 102 Ohm ribbon cable that connects the Vco-Mux chassis with the DBE chassis. Series termination at the source may help this problem. Lori Warner: 1. Out sick two days this week. 2. Root will be installing Glade on my computer soon. 3. Learning gtk+, looking at examples, looking at main.c on smtcont, reading the Eric Harlow book. (note: some of the downloaded source examples do not match the ones in the book, but that is okay) Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
