CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: April 12, 2002 Week: 63 Tom Folkers: Tom Sargent: 1. With Bill's help I seem to have the pointing working just like the old control system. I checks a grid of about 20 points across the sky and the agreement is generally to within 0.01 arcsec. 2. I wrote a function to decelerate the telescope to a stop while keeping it on the sun avoidance path. It has been inserted into the servo program and is being debugged now. This will be used if the operator switches to a different object while the telescope is following a sun avoidance path. When it gets to 0 velocity, it will start on the path to the new object. 3. Servo now writes out a file once every 3 minutes which describes the sun avoidance zone in AZ-EL. Catalog has been changed to read this in and display the actual sun avoidance zone. 4. Servo has been altered to send an "at source" message to monitor and catalog when it finishes a slew. ?? Pete Hubbard: 1. Received samples from TI, SN74HCT157 mux chip and SN74ABT2244 octal buffer with series resistor on the output. This will help with ringing in the output ribbon cables driving the counter chips AM9513. 2. Looked at logic families ACT, ABT, BCT, LVC and LV-A. Only ABT and HCT have proper logic compatibility to drive the AM9513 counter chips. Lori Warner: 1. Learning some gtk. Root installed the necessary config file this morning so I can compile. Going through the on line tutorial. 2. Brought in a spare (personal) computer to learn how to install Linux. 3. Using two GTK+ and GDK books to gain skills. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
