CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: October 12, 2001 Week: 37 Tom Folkers: 1. Spent most of week on SMTO and 12 Meter personnel and administrative issues. Tom Sargent: 1. Settled on a new acquisition algorithm for servo.c and wrote it and began debugging. It should be able to decelerate from slew speed to essentially 0 or a bit more than tracking speed at a point within a few arcminutes of the target. Recorded position data shows that the telescope is well behaved with accelerations of 0.1 deg/sec. or less (actual velocity lags commanded velocity by only 80ms), so this should be repeatable. 2. We noticed that the Azimuth encoder data recorded on our last run at the telescope was saturating briefly at the maxima and minima of the sine/cosine signals. So, I added error checking to the DSP software to have it constantly check the digitized signals from the encoders to see if they are reasonable. It reports errors if it sees the A/D saturate or if the maxima of the sine/cosine waves is less than half of full scale. Pete Hubbard: 1. On Vacation All Week. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
