CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: May 18, 2001 Week: 16 Tom Folkers: 1. Spent most of week hammering out the details of programming the AM9513 System Timer Controller. Happy to announce that all timing, blanking and sig/ref signal are now working. I now have to begin porting the user level code into the Digital Continuum Backend. (smtdbe) 2. Designed a small interface board for signal conditioning into and out of the smtdbe. 3. I will be spending most of next week getting ready for the SMT council meeting. Tom Sargent: 1. Spent some time studying Johann Schraml's code. I am using the same program structure that he worked out. I also picked up some good ideas from his code. There are still some points I don't understand. I will study it a bit more and then email Johann about it if I still have questions. 2. I got the Host Linux machine and the DSP processor communicating in a different, more efficient mode. Previously they were using standard I/O (printf, scanf, etc.). I have now switched to using the Traquair Application Interface directly to pass binary information back and forth. This is the method that will be used for all communication in the final control system. 3. I began writing the realtime DSP code. I've defined a command protocol for both directions and am writing the data collection, correction, communication, and status reporting code that executes on the DSP card. 4. I will be able to fairly easily make the system synthesize encoder data by using data generation software I already have running. It will inject it into the DSP through the interrupt routines just as if it was real encoder data. (The interrupts will come from the timers instead of the encoders). The software that calculates the corrections is already tested and just needs to be grafted into the program. This will allow me to test out most of the logic without having the computer connected to an encoder. This should be running in a week or two?? Pete Hubbard: 1. Prepare rear panel for A/D converter chassis. Start mounting power supply and both A/D boards. 2. Mounting fans and BNC connectors on rear panel of A/D converter chassis. 3. Vacation May 17,18 and 21. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
