CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: May 11, 2001 Week: 15 Tom Folkers: 1. Assembled rack unit to house the new continuum back end. (smtdbe) 2. Began coding work for moving DBE programs from VxWorks to Linux. 3. Produced the draft drawings for the encoder HEGD2 interface chassis. 4. Spent rest of week trying to understand the inter workings of the AM9513 STC chip. Tom Sargent: 1. Learned how to use the T.I. DSP assembler and linker 2. Copied my existing C programs for generating artificial encoder data and error correcting it converted to be compatible with the T.I. Compiler and ran them on the T.I. DSP processor. I was able to compare the accuracy of the T.I. single precision computation to the same program running double precision under Linux. The T.I. single precision computations look like they are going to work fine. They appear to be able to produce more than adequate accuracy. 3. I'm making the computations more accurate in the case where there are < 100 data samples in the sine/cosine wave coming from the encoders. Pete Hubbard: 1. Finished wiring analog input chassis for 12 bit ADC. 2. Ordered power supply for Hunt HEGD2 ADC boards and connectors for analog inputs on these cards. 3. Working on chassis layout for HEGD2 boards and how to connect input wiring for signals and clocks. Dave Ashby: 1. The AOS boards and parts are expected in 10 days. I will begin assembly and testing at that time. 2. I will continue to refine and test the VHDL code and Linux software.
