CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: February 16, 2001 Week: 3 Tom Folkers: 1. Continued researching and specifying hardware requirements for the new various systems. 2. Delivered purchase orders for rack mounted chassis with displays. 3. Delivered purchase orders for DSP hardware. Tom Sargent: 1. Written a data synthesizing program to produce encoder output with known amounts of offset and phase error. I have yet to add some noise to it. 2. Wrote a program to determine offset errors (and soon amplitude and phase errors) in the data which is produced by the data synthesizer program. This allows studying some different computational methods. 3. Wrote an RA-Dec to Alt-Az converter and used it to study rates of change of altitude and azimuth near the zenith under normal sidereal tracking conditions. 4. Did a couple hours work in support of purchasing the various computer systems. Pete Hubbard: 1. Wiring MPI model 6000 amplifier encoder board to enable testing of Heidenhain ROR456 encoder. 2. Mounting encoder and small DC motor with a 485 to 1 gear reduction drive on an optical breadboard plate. 3. Testing encoder for ultra slow speed operation.
