CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: December 14, 2001 Week: 46 Tom Folkers: 1. No Report. Tom Sargent: 1. Added a one word long "resync" command to the DSP's command list. Receiving this code causes it to re-initialize its command parsing. There have been some failures which may be due to multi-word commands getting garbled somehow, so this may make it recover from those situations. The servo code now sends resync commands periodically and after all error conditions are reported. 2. Fixed the "getting started" problem: The DSP always starts up with its cycle counters set to 0. After the telescope moves a short distance (to allow it to do an ellipse fit) and servo sends it a coarse encoder reading, then the position appears to jump from nearly 0 to something approximating the right position. This is sensed as a high speed lurch which usually disturbs the first object acquire that is done with the telescope. Servo has been changed to detect this initial state and to move the telescope slowly for a second until the position logic has become fully initialized. Only then is the servo loop logic allowed to operate. 3. Fixed the reset encoder problem which caused the telescope to move both axes to their pre-index positions even if only one axis' encoder was being reset. 4. Updated the documentation to reflect changes and additions made in the last 3 months. Pete Hubbard: 1. Made changes to the Digital Back End circuit board and wiring changes to the other boards in the chassis box. 2. Using HP3561 Dynamic Signal Analyzer to test some low pass filters that will be used with the A/D chassis to limit bandwidth from the antenna encoders. 3. Building a second test set for operating the MPI 6000 amplifier boards so that one can test filter's while also using the telescope simulator in the lab. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
