CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: August 17, 2001 Week: 29 Tom Folkers: 1. Spent entire week at the 12 Meter rewiring UPS systems and it's associated critical load. Tom Sargent: 1. Fixed a minor bug in the Linux driver for the 6 channel 12 bit D/A. This is now used to connect the output of an unused channel to one of the coarse encoder analog inputs. This allows manually setting the coarse encoder input. Used as a test feature in the lab. 2. I altered the built-in shell program in servo so that it can receive commands from the keyboard (the window from which servo was spawned) or via sockets from another program. This makes it possible to control servo via the 'sock' program. In the socket mode it sends all output back to the socket from which the initiating command came. 3. Added a "reset encoder" command to servo. It presumes that there is a Service Position defined which is about 1 degree in front of the fiducial position. It commands tracker to that position. Then a state driven program begins supplying position polynomials to make it run past the fiducial a few times and record the cycle counters. This is rather difficult to test with the system in the lab, so it hasn't been tested yet, but it compiles. It does both azimuth and elevation simultaneously. It should be able to reset the encoders within a few minutes. 4. Rearranged the shell software into a more manageable form. It is broken up into one function per command now, rather than one command that contained all functions. The number of commands has grown beyond what I originally expected. Pete Hubbard: 1. Modified the A/D chassis for mounting a second 12 volt power supply. Wiring and testing the completed chassis. 2. Adding the wiring in the D/IO board chassis to rear BNC connectors. 3. Testing A/D chassis with servo after changes. 4. Starting to find where to pick off analog signals from Krupp rack that are measured by the new telescope drive system. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report.
