CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: August 3, 2001 Week: 27 Tom Folkers: 1. More time spent working with Tom Sargent on details of the control system and the tracker/servo in general. 2. I now have the 'executive' task compiled and working on the host control computer. Most of the essential core programs for observing are in place. 3. Even more time spent preparing for next week's more to the basement. Tom Sargent: 1. Tested DSP running on its own after the servo program has been stopped. It worked running for more than a day. Then the servo program was restarted and was able to pick up where it left off. 2. Converted most of the error/status messages of the servo program to go out over sockets to the Monitor task. 3. Discovered a strange effect - so far unexplained - whereby the servo task duty cycle increases to large numbers (> 90%) for 20 seconds roughly every 10 minutes or so. However, it continues running normally. It gets slightly behind in processing position reports, but no more than 20ms or so. This needs to be looked into further. It may be in the Traquair driver. 4. Made commands in servo to enable & disable tracking gracefully. Servo now comes up with tracking disabled. It has top be commanded to start. 5. Added info to the DSP status word on the quality of the positions being reported, that is, whether fiducial index been done yet or if the system is just using coarse position information whether corrections have been computed yet, etc. The servo program tracks this state constantly for each encoder and has state-driven logic to make sure that the DSP always has at least coarse position information and reports if it stays in the wrong state too long. This will makes it possible displaying position state information in the status display. (un-indexed positions could be displayed in red for instance.) 6. Numerous small changes, error checks, messages, etc. Pete Hubbard: 1. Finished wiring from Mux board to 25 pin connectors. 2. Mux chassis layout for power supply and board. 3. Layout the rear panel for the Mux chassis power, fans, and connectors. 4. Drawing of the rear panel for the machine shop job submittal. 5. Trying to find a supplier for Augat dual inline sockets. Dave Ashby: 1. No Report. Dave, I know your working on the AOS interface. Could I have a progress report?
