CAMAC Progress Report Week Ending: April 20, 2001 Week: 12 Tom Folkers: 1. Began evaluating the usefulness of RTLinux v3.0 for some of our hard realtime requirements. 2. Spent a day at the 12 Meter showing Tom Sargent around and putting out little fires. 3. Began running test of the accuracy of xntpd at keeping the system clock on the money. First results are promising. Once the system settles down, around 2 hours, I get latencies on the order of ± 100 µsecs. Now if I could only keep the computer from crashing all the time... Tom Sargent: 1. Researched an NTP security exploit that was just discovered the previous week. I implemented the Authentication feature in the NTP server to protect against this. This is now working. 2. Went to the 12m Radio Telescope to observe the operation. 3. Installed the Texas Instrument compiler linker software on the Master Control Computer running under VMWARE PC emulator. It appears to work. I copied the Traquair development software to the Tracker/Server computer. I expect to have the Traquair processor running today. Pete Hubbard: 1. Finished assembling chassis for interface boards. 2. Add op-amp for reference output on MPI 6000 board and tested. 3. Made reference pulse 2ms on MPI 600 board. It was 1 us before. 4. Assembled berg flex couplings with encoder and gear box.
