Program:

AS-H5

Telescope:

SMT10M

Receiver:

JT1mm

DateOfRun:

Jan 8 - 10, 2006

Phone:

Manuals:

Equipment:

JT1mm ch 1 worked nicely.

Support:

Generally good.

Objectives:

About 70 percent this time. Intended to measure the CN (N=2-1, J=5/2-3/2, F=7/2-5/2) intensity at 2 positions in each of six dense cores. 8 positions were observed (all detections) with JT1mm Ch-1 and CTS. Ta* = 0.2 - 0.4 K. So the density (H2) is likely 1E6 cm-3. So far I don't notice significant depletion of CN in dense cores.

Problems:

The CTS/FB2A from ch1 of JT1mm on the first night seem to have central frequency significantly off the line freq. It seems the observer's request to receive the signals of ch1 and ch2 into 250kHz FB did not work well.  It may be a result of 10" offset between ch1 and ch2. Ch2 signal was more noisy.  In a few scans out of about 800 scans, the CTSA data have strange truncation  of amplitude over a 1/3 of a spectrum. It seems to occur randomly.

Resolved:

On the 2nd and 3rd nights, only ch1 of jt1mm was fed to FB2A and FB2B and CTS. It worked nicely with good Tsys (300K).

Hours_lost_weather:

Zero

Hours_lost_equipment:

One - two hours. But not serious.

Suggestions:

Frequency switching would be nice to have.
