Manuals:
Equipment:
CLASS (plot) was slow as usual.
Support:
Good. If an observing instruction is sent 24 hours ahead, observations can
be performed by the operator without close monitoring by an observer.
Objectives:
Yes. Last year, dense cores were mapped in CN(1-0) at a 60" sampling. This
run's objective was to fill-in between the 60" grid points. CN(1-0, 3/2-1/2)
spectra were obtained at such 14 positions.
Problems:
Disruption of internet connection (October 25, 21h MST to 23h30m MST) - We
started a remote session 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, the ssh
connection became slow, and then froze before the starting time of our run
(AS-H8). At the same time, we had difficulty in accessing the ARO web site. We
still had ssh and web accesses to other North American sites. Probably one of
regional nodes was temporarily down. The network connection recovered in 2.5
hours.
Resolved:
We called the 12m operator and asked to carry out the observation as in the
instruction. The operator did a good job. (But the weather was not good.) A
submission of an observing instruction 24 hours ahead was the solution. The
instruction should be simple and easy to follow. Keep encouraging remote
observers to submit an instruction 24hours ahead of an observing run.
Hours_lost_weather:
6 hours (closed dome, or Tsys > 700K) on Oct 25. 0 hr on Oct26 and 27.
Hours_lost_equipment:
1 hour for FS_OFF1 = 1.4 0.0 FS_OFF2 = 0.0 0.0 . (freq offset was 0 for ch2
for some time, but Tsys was too high anyways). 0 hr on Oct26 and 27.
