12 Meter ASU June 2006

Below is the result of your feedback form. It was submitted by Sobolev (Andrey{.}Sobolev{@}usu{.}ru) on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 01:55:00

Program:

Sobolev et al.

Telescope:

12m

Receiver:

2mm, 3mm

DateOfRun:

June 13-14, 2006

Phone:

7 (Rus)-343-2617445

Manuals:

It is desirable to update the information about back-ends. How many IF’s are working now, can we set different central frequencies to different IF’s, how MACs and filter banks can be combined etc.?

It is desirable to add the description of XRemote software.

Equipment:

There was a problem with system temperature rising up when we switched to 157 GHz. It is not clear whether it was too hot outside or there is a problem with equipment.

Sometimes after tuning one of the IF channels became very noisy and operators had to adjust it additionally.

Support:

Operators were very helpful for us. Special thanks to Erin.

Objectives:

No, we didn’t. We were given less observational time than we asked for. Further, system temperature at 2mm was always high at the day time. We don’t know the reason. With our experience now we would plan 2mm for the night time and 3mm for the daytime.

Problems:

  1. First day there was a problem with frequency setup we wanted. Erin managed to set it.
  2. The system temperature was too high at 157 GHz.

Resolved:

  1. When Erin came she managed to set it.
  2. The system temperature naturally decrease.

Hours_lost_weather:

Several hours, probably. There was a problem with system temperature rising up when we switched to 157 GHz. It is not clear whether it was too hot outside or there is a problem with equipment.

It is desirable to add the description of XRemote software.

It would be good to know the scheduling results earlier than they were available this time.
