Proposal Submission InformationThe latest call for proposals covers the observing period from Oct 1st, 2008 to January 31st 2009. The Arizona Radio Observatory (ARO) is accepting observing proposals for use of the Sub-millimeter Telescope (SMT) on Mt. Graham, Arizona as well as for the Kitt Peak 12-meter Telescope (KP12m) for the period Jan 15, 2008 - June 2008. The telescopes are expected to be available to the general astronomical community for a minimum of 10 percent of the scheduled time. Graduate student participation is especially encouraged regardless of institutional affiliation. Institutions (or individuals) that wish to acquire longer commitments of time should contact the ARO Director Prof. Lucy Ziurys. The SMT currently supports a dual-polarization, ALMA Band-6 1 mm receiver, a dual-polarization 0.8 mm receiver, and a new ALMA Band-9 (602-720 GHz) dual-polarization receiver. The 12 m supports 2 mm and 3 mm (65-176 GHz) dual-polarization receivers. A new ALMA Band-3 receiver will be available at the 12 m for the 85-116 GHz band (3 mm HI), also dual-polarization Observations can be conducted remotely from anywhere in the world via ARO's virtual control room software. Details about the telescopes and their instrumentation may be found at http://aro.as.arizona.edu. Information about Remote Observing can be viewed at http://aro.as.arizona.edu/remote/remote.htm. For further information on remote observing or general operations questions, please contact the ARO operations Manager Thomas Folkers. Proposals should consist of the standard proposal cover sheet; a brief scientific justification (not more than 2 pages); and a source list with observing time requirements and justification. Proposals will be reviewed by the ARO TAC, appointed by the Steward Observatory Director. Scheduling of successful proposals will be done according to availability of the receivers requested. Electronic submissions will be expected in Post-Script, MSWord or PDF formats. Look here for the late breaking information. Proposals will be accepted by email in PDF or MSWord format. Send them to the following address: mbenson{at}as{dot}arizona{dot}edu Hard copies will also be accepted. Please send ONE copy to: Observer Coordinator: Marty Benson
