DRAFT

ARO Technical Approval

In keeping with similar policies at other Steward Observation facilities, the Arizona Radio Observatory has instituted a contact person policy for engineering issues that arise over the installation and operation of special Principal Investigator (PI)equipment, instrumentation, and unique apparatus at ARO facilities. Before an approved scientific project can proceed, all aspects of the actual implementation and operation shall be reviewed by the ARO Engineering Contact Person for approval. This policy is to insure smooth and efficient integration of non-ARO maintained equipment.

No special equipment, instrumentation, computing experiment or unique apparatus shall be installed or operated at an ARO facility without the prior written approval of the ARO Engineering Contact. Also, no modifications, either temporarily or permanent, shall be made to ARO facilities without prior written approval. A written description of the special equipment, instrumentation, or unique apparatus shall be provided to the ARO Engineering Contact in accordance with the "Use of Special Apparatus at ARO Facilities" policy that can be found on the ARO WEB site. The Engineering Contact Person is named by the ARO director and identified on the ARO WEB site at http://aro.as.arizona.edu.

This policy takes effect the 5th of April, 2006.
